Want to rock out in your very own band but still be at home? Well now you can with Rock band 2 for the wii. With over 80 songs from bands such as Modest Mouse to Bon Jovi. If you want to rock out with friends or family you can get the special edition bundle, but you’ll have to buy a extra guitar for a complete band. Or if you want to rock out by yourself you can buy the wireless guitar set or the drum set, which some with the game. If you haven’t played the previous Rock Band or Guitar hero then the way you play is to use the “instrument” provided to play the song by timing the notes going toward you in the screen. There are 4 instruments you can use, the guitar, bass guitar, drums, and the microphone. Beginning the game there are 5 modes, Quickplay, tour, training, options, and extras. In quickplay you play either the songs you unlocked or the default songs given already. In tour mode there are 3 modes, “Start Tour”, were you make a band and tour around the world, “Tour challenges”, were you play song sets, and then finally the “Battle of the Bands” mode where you duke it out rock band style, going against another band online. Now the graphics are basic wii graphics, which are similar the PS2 graphics. The sounds of the game depends on the player whether they hit the notes or not. Game play is fairly good in which it is simple. This is a good party game and worth the 189$ to rock out again and again

Bomberman, available on the wii shop channel, is everything that classic bomberman is plus more! New Items, features, and modes make this game more enjoyable than before. The game features up to a massive 8-players with profiles and rankings! Some may also sign in as guests. Your profile allows you to use your own mii so you can play as that in exchange of using the old school bomber. The ability to play online against your region or the whole world makes this game worth the purchase and of course a friend list. However, there is lag and everyone hates lag. It may seem as if everything is running smoothly when versing people on the internet, but sometimes your opponents are not really where they seem to be, resulting in your opponents apparently standing in the middle or running through explosions(A critical disappointment). New items consist of a shield(gives you the ability to shield bomb blasts), a rocket(lets you rocket up into the air dodging any surrounding bombs) and more which you will have to see for yourself. Some items are activated through shaking the wiimote. Some new items can become annoying to some people, like the items which decrease your bomb amount or fire power. 10 stages are playable on the wiiware version but not all modes can be played on each stage. Some new modes consist of “Dodge Bomb”(Mode where each player avoids getting hit by falling bombs), “Team Battle”(Self explanatory) and many more! Some would say 1000 wii points is a bit pricey for this game but i would say its worth it only because of the 8-player online gaming and rankings. Don’t contemplate too long on whether or not your going to make this purchase because you will fall behind on the rankings.

Strikers Charged…..It’s a pretty good game. The gameplay is pretty good, the graphics are good for the wii, sound is typical nintendo sounds, and reply is a plus. There’s really nothing bad except for online play with the lag and all. But if its smooth then you can have a pretty good time. The game has the regular cast, with secret characters Bowser Jr., Petey Piranha, and Diddy Kong. The game play is like the last game only with extra items and the enhanced Mega Strike. The Road to the Striker Cup mode is pretty fun too, you play to win a bunch of cups and receive the prize of a secret character. Though I bet no one plays online anymore because of a certain cheat…. I think this game is overall a good choice and if you haven’t boughten it yet i suggest you should!

The graphics of this game are very basic but that is one of Pac-Mans best qualities. A graphic packed game can make things too complicating and make things hard to see, which might come in only for more hard-core gamers. But Pac-Man, having the very basic graphics, lets all kinds of people from child to adult enjoy. Most people don’t want to go through useless background graphics and such to conquer a game, its to overwhelming for some. People never get tired of these graphics because this game wasn’t made for graphics, like most games, it was made just for the game itself. Therefore, graphics are not anything to talk about and get bored of. The gameplay is simple but can also be challenging at times. The famous yellow blob, Pac-Man, has to eat every little dot as he goes through the maze while he is being chased by ghost. Eating the big dot makes you invulnerable and also makes the ghost afraid of you because your ability to eat them at the moment. The more ghost you chomp in one session the more accumulated points will add up. A bonus fruit appears also. 2-player game is the same except that you alternate turns playing. I say that this classic is worth your 500 points because you might never get bored of it. The reason why people never get enough of this game is because it never ends so they never can beat it. Unless . . .

There are 3 modes in this game which are: A 1-player games, B 2-player game, and C Balloon Trip. In 1-Player game the player goes against CPU’s trying to pop balloons that make them float. Once you pop(touch) their balloons, the enemy falls to the floor and to fully eliminate the enemy is to hit them while they are down on there. But make sure to hurry and get them before they inflate another balloon. Sometimes it is possible to pop their balloon right when they are above water which makes them fall to instant death. You also need to watch for the water, if to near, you can be snatched by a giant fish so make sure you flutter at safe heights. Everything is not as easy as it seems. Floating around may take a little while to master. Pressing the button at the right time to make your balloon fighter flap and rise takes proper timeing. On top of that the balloon fighter keeps on going in the same direction that they were going as if they were slippery in the air. Some obstacles are present such as thunder clouds that may cause you to lose 1 of your 2 balloons. 2-player mode is all the same except that it is co-op. As for Balloon trip, you flutter past electricity ball obstacles set up to destroy. It tests how long you can manage to dodge obstacles as the screen moves slowly to the left forcing you to follow through. lets see how far you can go! Balloon fight is available on the Virtual console for 500 Wii points.

Played as its sequel for the first of its series, “Contra” for “NES” or “Probotector”, has only the slightest change in graphics. Most gameplay is all similar to the first Contra. However, the secondary gameplay (played every other level) has changed. The pseudo-3D stages from the first Contra have been removed and replaced with an overhead kind of gameplay (A major transformation in the consecution). Sidescrolling gameplay like this was very popular within the years of the Original NES. Titles such as “Castlevania” and “Bionic commando” were big hits to the Console along with Contra. Nevertheless, Contra took the sidescrolly feely and made so much more intensity that the game itself created a new genre in video games which is called “Run and Gun”. Running and gunning explains exactly how the game is played. Rushing through enemies to get to the next level but watch out getting shot or touched by the enemies just once will cause you a life and any weapon that you were equipped with. This game takes alot of dodging and shooting skills, especially now that “Konami” had added the feature that the longer you hold the jump button, the more higher you will go(Pressure sensitivity). Another contemporary feature is the slopes which will have you unleveled for shooting any aliens, forcing you to jump and fire. Many different types of weapons are existent in this game such as the machine gun and the spread gun. Choosing the best gun for the following scenario will give you an advantage whether its the very powerful laser for the boss’ or Spread shot for the massive amounts of aliens out to get you. The difficulty rating of this game is hard but not to hard. It takes awhile for anyone to master a game like this. Another great aspect of this game that most sidescrollers do not have is the multiplayer mode. Thanks to “Konami” for a job well done. Super C is currently available on the Virtual Console for 500 wii points.

Released in 1985 for the NES console in North America. A racing game so simple yet memorable for the classically trained gamers such as G-Dog(A classically trained gamer and also Boss of this site). Not many racing games are sidescrollers like this one. There are 3 modes to choose from in this game which are: Selection A, Selection B, and Design. “Selection A” is Time Trial mode in which you can test you ability to beat record times that were recently accomplished. In “Selection B” you race against CPU’s going for the gold within 5 tracks. In “Design” mode (My favorite mode) you have the ability to create any track to your liking. Designed tracks can be played through modes both A & B. The gamelay is pretty straight forward, reach the finish line before the other racers. Hitting the other racers from the rear forces them to swerve out of control and off to the side of the road, immobilizing them for some time. However, they have the ability to rear end you as well. So be very aware of tailgaters as they may cause you the whole race. If it so happens that you are hit and thrown off to the side of the track , you would have to press A and B as fast as possible. The more faster you press the more faster you will get back on track. Pressing and holding down the B button allows you to speed up but watch out! An engine temperature meter is present at the bottom of the screen which when at its peak, the bike will stop for sometime. Anyone who plays this game will never forget how it looks because all it is, is your rider racing toward the right of the screen over and over making is seem like you race around the world one lap at a time, dodging and jumping obstacles that suddenly appear ahead of you ( I have no idead why the rider cant see whats ahead from his point of view. LOL. yeah makes no sense). This game may be odd in some ways but classic gamers in there time accept whats given and enjoy it to its fullest. As you may know Excite truck for the wii and excite bike 64 are supposed to be of the same series but the gameplay is very different from this classic. Therefore, Excite truck and Excite bike 64 , through my opinion, do not reallytake the role as the games predecessor. Excite Bike is available for the Virtual Console for 500 Wii Points. ( Sorry about writing so much folks. just giving the brief overview of a good game).

I purchased the NYKO charge station because i didn’t want to go through to many AA batteries, its too expensive and not very green. It came with the charging station, two battery packs and two silicon backed covers for the battery. The dock has a smooth design and matches great right next to the Wii and remotes. It takes less than 4 hours to fully charge a remote, less if they are not completely empty. It has a green light indicator if the batteries are fully charged. A couple bad things to note, they didn’t seem to design the dock for the remote wrist straps. You just have to move the straps out of the way and sometimes makes an awkward fit. Also when i charge 2 remotes at the same time one side seems to loose the charging light, so i don’t know if that side is charging. Over all this product does its job well. If your in the market for a Wii remote charger I recommend this one. But note there are others now that maybe worth looking at, like the 4 remote charger from Penguin United or the single remote charger from Sanyo.

Your Mission: Save the captured princess lala from the great devils evil empire!!! You are the only one who can save princess lala. Lol sounds like a childrens book. In this type of game, story does’nt matter anyway. The objective of the game is to go through various puzzles to reach the princess. As you progress through the castle, the puzzles become harder. Making false steps force you to start the puzzle over. Many different types of monsters are present in this castle. The monsters are more friendly and playful monsters who want to make the game harder and some of them just like to get in the way, they aren’t scary at all. Collecting fireballs becomes very useful because you can move most monsters anywhere you want with them or out of the way, but be careful only a certain amount of them can be obtained in each puzzle. The puzzles are great, however the music gets annoying. The same tune is present throughout the whole game which makes me want to just mute the tv. I say the music also effect the gameplay by a 0.5. Other than that i love this game. I recommend this game to puzzlers and especially to the kids. This game is available on the Virtual Console for 500 Wii points.
